With a little sweet talking and lots of patience, this colorful creature posed for numerous photos in the span of three days in our patio garden. Then, as quickly as it appeared, it was gone.

The inlaid ceramic tiles are a perfect backdrop to really make this little guy's fluorescence pop.

Since moving from Minnesota, where everything goes dormant for 6 months out of the year, to Texas, Mexico Beach and Destin, where almost nothing does, change has become a common word in my vocabulary. Straying from my roots geographically, and surviving it, encouraged me to take a chance creatively as well. From the structure and conditions of graphic design and illustration for publishing and print advertising, I embraced the free spirit of fine art. I chose "nature" as a common element for three very distinctive styles of expression. The first, a traditional approach, resulted in cut-paper illustrations of florals and creatures.
